I'm typing this blog entry on a Mac Book Pro I picked up two years ago. It's 15 inches, about 5 pounds, with 2 gigs of ram and a 120 gig hard drive. It's a great machine.
Apple came out with the Mac Book Air recently, and I'm of two minds about the device. It sure is missing a lot of stuff, like a DVD burner, and firewire, oh, and a replaceable battery!! but it sure is light.
Speaking of replaceable batteries, I'm still dreading the day when my iPhone battery poops out.
I walked over to the Michigan Avenue Apple Store after work last week and I played around with the Air. The damn thing is very very light. The screen's not that much smaller than the one I'm typing on right now. The keyboard is the same one that's found in the traditional MacBooks and not too different from the really small ones that apple gives to people who buy a Mac Pro or an iMac these days.
