No more CTA shutdown

Posted by sam, Sat Dec 15 02:00:16 UTC 2007

Well, it looks like I'm actually going to go to work on monday. A couple of ministers managed to shame the CTA unions into not screwing over students and poor people.

But seriously, Springfield, get your act together.

Oh well, stuff happens. You'll whine about doomsday, then you'll get bailed out.

Possible CTA shutdown

Posted by sam, Fri Dec 14 13:00:17 UTC 2007

The possible CTA shutdown on monday will probably not fly one bit. I think its garbage. Also, springfield seriously should get it in gear and get the CTA funded. If the union does strike (or pull a job action), then this is the ONLY time they're permitted to do it. Ever.

I could walk the four miles to work, but that would take me over an hour or so to get from my apartment a couple of blocks west of DePaul in Lincoln Park to my job at Wacker and LaSalle. I've walked home several times from my jobs in the loop to home in the warmer weather this summer, and it was fun. Now i have to do it carrying my laptop and also in cold weather.

One thing I could do is take the Metra line at the Clybourn station and get off at the Northwestern station. That could be a serious mess.

I really hope that this does not get that bad.
